Food and Nutrition Services

Our talented staff prepares home-cooked meals along side our chef, for both residents and staff. Food is prepared fresh daily — with most entrees prepared from scratch — and served hotel style. 

What can we say? We all love to eat here!

Residents eat in the dining room, day room or resident rooms. Home-cooked entrees are offered for each meal with current resident favorites like slow-cooked BBQ ribs that fall off the bone, crispy fried shrimp, freshly baked biscuits with gravy and homemade desserts. Special requests from the Cass Café Menu, like hamburgers, grilled cheese, cold salads, grilled chicken or pasta salads, can be ordered throughout the day. 

Recipes start with quality meats, poultry and fish, and include fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Our chef takes pride in each homemade soup of the day. 

Snacks are plentiful and available 24 hours a day. Fruit, puddings, ice cream, small plates, salty snacks, milk and juice are just a call light away. Hot and cold beverages are available 24/7 from the Café. Residents can ask for food or snacks as they please. 

We offer Liberalized Diets for older adults that are individualized as recommended by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ADA) and the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA), as well as published in the Journal of American Geriatrics Society. Understanding individuals’ desires — and those certain cravings! — our Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietary Manager work closely with the chef to meet their needs. Call it our passion!

Families are encouraged to eat with their loved ones, and, when safe to do so, are treated with complimentary cookies and other treats as a show of hospitality. Our department directors have even been known to travel with trays of freshly baked cookies to many civic meetings in support of the community.
